Christmas: A New Dawn

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. Isa 9:2

Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, who came into this world to atone for the sins of humanity. Christ's birth, thus marked a transformation for the world which was engulfed in the shadow of sin into one filled with the light of new dawn. This dawn, this new beginning, signifies a number of things to all mankind.

A Dawn of Redemption

But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." Gal 4:4-6

Jesus Christ was sent into this world, as a redeemer. He came to seek the lost and to redeem us from sin, bringing us back to the Father. Through the blood of Christ, and the love of the Father, we are redeemed and given the full rights of sons, which enable us to call on to the Father, as heirs to his kingdom.

A Dawn of Rejoicing

"But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10,11

Through the birth of Jesus Christ, a great Joy is given to all mankind. This Joy different from anything else in the world, is a joy of freedom. Freedom from the darkness of sin and everything which holds us down. Freedom for everyone, including the outcasts, the lonely and the burdened. Isn't this a great reason to rejoice?!

A Dawn of Repentance

Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvellous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. Ps 98:1,2

To be redeemed and to share the joy brought by the saviour of the world, all we need to do is ask for forgiveness, to repent from our sins through the name of Christ Jesus. And when we do, the darkness of sin, will never have a foothold on us anymore.

Jesus Christ, who came into the world as its savior, to redeem it, giving it the joy of salvation and peace out of this world, will return again. This time as its judge. So lets be ready!

Let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the people with equity. Ps 98:9

Wishing you a Merry Christmas! May the Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace be with you always and His love and peace stay in your heart forevermore!
